Manufacturer beats its own Q4 sales forecast to achieve first gain since Q3 2011 as profit increases by more than half
HTC has posted revenues of NT $47.9 billion (£985 million) for Q4 2014 – its first quarterly year-on-year sales growth since Q3 2011.
The figure reported by the Taiwanese manufacturer is up from the Q4 revenue of NT $42.9 billion (£883 million) posted a year earlier and NT $41.86 billion (£862 million) in the previous quarter.
It managed to beat its own internal forecasts. In October, HTC predicted revenue would be NT $43 billion (£885 million) to $47 billion (£967 million) for the final three months of last year.
Net profit also increased in Q4, rising 51.6 per cent from NT $310 million (6.38 million) in the same period a year ago to NT $470 million (£9.7 million).
During the October-December quarter, HTC collaborated with Google to release the Nexus 9 tablet. It also released the mid-range Desire Eye (pictured), which it claimed was comparably specced to its flagship One (M8) smartphone.
