Apple announces launch event for September 9

New iPhone expected to be unveiled at San Francisco launch event after manufacturer sends out press invites

Apple looks set to unveil the next iPhone at a launch event on September 9 after the US manufacturer sent out invites to the 7,000 seater Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco.

The Californian giant is expected to unveil the follow-up to the iPhone 6 at the event, although speculation remains as to whether it is the only device being launched.

At last year’s iPhone launch event, the manufacturer unveiled two handsets – the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus – so it remains to be seen if they will launch two or more this year.
