Meinie Oldersma chief executive of 20:20 Mobile, said last week 20:20 is set to "fight back" in the UK market and make a proper go of expansion overseas for the first time.
With parent Doughty Hanson’s refinancing of the business complete and key Nokia contract wins in the bag, Oldersma has restructured the business so its 20:20 Logistics handset unit and Dextra accessories division have been combined in a single trading entity.
In the UK, a huge focus will be on accessories and new MVNO projects going forward.
Nokia’s share of the UK accessories market is some way behind its handset share. The newly merged business, under the stewardship of James Browning, will look to force Nokia’s share of UK accessories.
"There is significant market share for Nokia to gain in accessories, especially compared with its handset share in the UK," said Oldersma.
20:20 will also look to capitalise on UK networks’ latent hunger for incremental growth via wholesale, in the UK and overseas.
It has been appointed distributor for Ikea’s new Family Mobile MVNO, running off T-Mobile, and Carphone Warehouse’s Talkmobile MVNO, off Vodafone.
It is also lined up by ethnic market MVNO Lycamobile, expected to debut in the UK next month on Orange.
