Apple PC shipments grew 127pc during Q1, according to Canalys figures

PC shipments in Western Europe grew by 48 per cent year on year during the first quarter of 2021.

In total 16.1 million units were shipped during Q1 2021, according to Canalys figures.

The strong performance comes amid a challenging backdrop dominated by the worsening chipset shortages that has impacted a variety of sectors.

And according to Canalys the supply chain is in ‘much better shape than in Q1 2020’.

“While demand remains sky high, the question is can supply cope? Right now, the vendors that can fulfil orders the quickest will win,” said Canalys Research Analyst Trang Pham.

HP edged out Lenovo for top spot during Q1, with 4.1m units (26pc market share) and 4.0m units (25pc market share) respectively.

The top five was completed by Dell, Apple and Acer, with Apple growing the most out of the top five, up 127 per cent YoY.

“Apple’s success makes sense, as Western Europe has a base of existing Mac users, high disposable income, and a strong community of tech enthusiasts and early adopters,” added Pham.
