The recently merged company launched its Volt product last month

Virgin Media O2 reported a growth of 686,000 new connections in Q3, which are the first full quarter results since the two companies joined forces in June.

Of this figure, 108,000 were for pay-monthly contracts. The rise in these numbers have been helped by trading returning to normal following the easing of lockdown restrictions.

Virgin Media O2’s now has a total mobile base of 42 million with more than 40 per cent of broadband customers now on a mobile plan.

CEO of Virgin Media O2 Lutz Schüler said: “We’ve driven a return to top line growth in Q3, while investing in connectivity, customer service and digital programmes for strong performance over the long term. With the core foundations already in place, we are fired up and focused on our mission to upgrade the UK.”

The company has also unveiled its first ever joint product under the name Volt, which combines Virgin Media broadband and O2 mobile services.

Volt offers those who subscribe to both brands discounts on connected devices as well as double broadband speed and mobile data allowance.
