Virgin Media O2 added 2.7m total mobile connections last year and 605,200 in Q4. It now has 32 million retail mobile connections, according to full-year and Q4 figures released today. There were 344,000 contract additions Of these 129,000 were added in Q4 giving total connections of 47 million.

The network says 45 per cent of its broadband customers also take a mobile plan.

Mobile revenue increased 0.8 per cent to £1.5bn, and this includes a seven per cent increase in handset revenue fuelled by increased upgrade activity following flagship handset launches in late Q3.

Consumer fixed revenue decreased by 0.5 per cent to £858m

Lutz Schüler, CEO of Virgin Media O2, said: “We saw sustained subscriber growth across fixed and mobile as the demand for fast, reliable connectivity remains, and delivered an increase in profitability while investing more than £2bn in our network, services and future growth drivers. We expanded our 5G coverage, completed our gigabit rollout as promised We now plan to extend our footprint to more than 23 million premises through a new fibre venture”.
