Network operator also recognised as fastest for 5G by Ookla

Three UK has extended its 5G access to 110 more locations. Locations including Brimington, Denholme and Littlestone-on-Sea now have access to Three UK’s 5G network.

A programme is underway to build more than 2,500 new sites for customers already online.

The new sites will enhance the experience for customers and deliver additional capacity and speeds according to the network.

Fastest 5G

Three UK has also announced that it has been recognised as the UK’s Fastest 5G network in Q1-Q2 2021 by Ookla.

The award comes after the addition of two 10MHz blocks of 700MHz spectrum and will improve indoor coverage even further.

Investments

Three said that its data traffic reached a peak of 808Gbps during the Man City vs PSG semi-final match of the Champions League in May.

This was almost surpassed by the Euro 2020 semi-final between Italy and Spain (804Gbps) although demand during the England semi-final was significantly lower.

The company is making further investments to support the growing demand for data and has committed to making further improvements to network capacity.

Three UK chief technology officer David Hennessy said: “Keeping our customers at the forefront of every decision we make is why we have continued to invest in our network and IT infrastructure.

“As we all navigate through uncertain times, our commitment to the expansion of our 5G and 4G rollout is vital to delivering better connectivity, every day for every customer and we will continue to do so.”
