Qualcomm has strengthened its 5G infrastructure portfolio with the acquisition of Cellwize.

The takeover of Cellwize will boost Qualcomm’s 5G adoption and Radio Access Networks (RAN) capabilities.

“The addition of Cellwize’s best-in-class RAN automation technologies strengthens Qualcomm Technologies’ ability to drive the development of the modern 5G network – accelerating Open RAN global adoption, cloud-based cellular infrastructure innovation and 5G private network deployments,” said Qualcomm senior VP and GM for cellular modems and infrastructure Durga Malladi.

The addition of Cellwize will help Qualcomm to speed up 5G adoption, through Cellwize’s deployment, automation and management software solutions, with Qualcomm seeking to power the connected intelligence edge.

Cellwize also offers a flexible RAN architecture solution which spans Open RAN, virtualised RAN and traditional RAN.
