Virgin Media O2 has been rated the top national broadband provider in the UK by Opensignal.

It secured first place in four out of five award categories, based on billions of daily measurements from over 100 million devices assessing mobile and broadband performance globally.

Opensignal specialises in measuring and analysing mobile network performance and user experience using crowdsourced data from mobile devices.

The Opensignal report analysed real-world fixed broadband experiences from July 1 to September 28, 2024, across 12 UK regions. Virgin Media achieved a score of 763 points, outperforming Sky Broadband (644 points) and EE (584 points).

The research evaluated key metrics, including download and upload speeds, latency, jitter, packet loss, and time to first byte. Virgin Media also led in network consistency, scoring 90.4% compared to Sky Broadband’s 72.3% and EE’s 83.1%.

Virgin Media O2 topped the Reliability Experience category, which assessed the ability to connect to the internet and perform uninterrupted tasks across multiple devices. Virgin Media was ranked first with 763 points, ahead of Sky Broadband (644) and EE (584).
