The charity MVNO has forecasted UK subscription numbers to hit 140,00 by 2016

The People’s Operator, lead by Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales (pictured) has announced it is on track to hit 69,000 subscribers in the UK by the end of the year.

The MVNO, which donates 10 per cent of subscribers’ monthly payments to charity, revealed the news in its latest company update. It said that it is targeting to increase the 69,000 subscription number to 140,000 by the end of 2016.

Company revenues from a mix of these predicted prepay and pay monthly subscribers will be in the region of £8.1 million by the end of 2016, claims the charity operator.

It also claims its growth in the US is being  driven by new marketing initiatives throughout December. The People’s Operator is targeting a total of 75,000 subscribers in the US by the end of next year. This will be driven by offering competitive tariffs, the MVNO said.
