Deal is the second between the pair in the past month after they rekindled their relationship following an alleged fallout that lasted more than six months

HTC has appointed Tech Data as the distribution partner for its RE camera to retailers and operators throughout Europe.

The Taiwanese manufactuer announced the point-of-view camera on October 8 and said at the time it would go on sale before Christmas.

Costing around £129, it features a 16MP camera and HD video recording. The cylindrical device is turned on as soon as it comes into contact with someones hand and is operated by a single button for camera recording and a further one for video recording.

It also features a wide-angle viewing mode which will drop the resolution to 13MP. It has a 820mAh battery which allows for one hour and 40 minutes of continuous video recording.

The RE camera does not have a viewfinder but a companion app, available for both Android and iOS, allows for pairing with a smartphone which can be used to frame shots.

It is the second agreement between the pair in the past few weeks after HTC announced Tech Data as its distribution partner for the Nexus 9. It came after Mobile News last month exclusively reported that Tech Data Mobile is again offering HTC handsets and tablets to the UK following an alleged fallout lasting more than six months.

Tech Data Mobile senior vice president Stephen Nolan said: “Tech Data Europe’s appointment as distributor for the RE camera by HTC is a big opportunity. We will be drawing on our full capabilities and resources to ensure that retailers and operators can make the most of this excellent opportunity and maximise sales for HTC.”

HTC vice president of global accounts and sales development Hervé Fontaine said Tech Data is providing an “agile and efficient distribution set-up, able to cover all European markets.”
