Shebang to launch contract MVNO on Three’s network

MVNO to go live in Go Mobile shops and via the Go Mobile Network website in July, following the prepay variant launched by the company last October

Shebang Technologies Group will launch a new consumer MVNO on Three’s network in July, Mobile News understands.

It will be the second MVNO launched by the group in the past nine months, having launched the Go Mobile Network prepay SIM in October through Everything Everywhere MVNA Transatel. Shebang said recently it had signed up more than 10,000 customers since launch.

The new MVNO, which has yet to be named, will focus entirely on contract customers.

It will initially be sold through Go Mobile’s 100 stores across the UK as well as the Go Mobile Network website. It will look to start selling through other avenues, such as independent dealers and online retailers, based on its success.

Tariff details are understood to be under discussion still, but sources close to the firm said Shebang will offer a “simple” and “straightforward, value-for-money” proposition, rather than simply focusing on price.

The MVNO will be available on either 12- or 24-month contracts, with a rolling one-month, SIM-only option also available. Entry-level, mid- and upper-tier handsets across all major manufacturers will be available on the contracts.

Shebang stocks handsets from all major manufacturers, including Samsung, Apple, Nokia, HTC, BlackBerry and Sony Mobile Communications.

Customers will be able to pay their bills via direct debit, over the phone, online or by visiting their local Go Mobile store.

Customer service teams will be based at Shebang’s head office in Daventry, as well as its other base near Mansfield in Nottinghamshire.

A source said: “It was always Shebang’s plan to launch a full network opportunity for consumers across prepay and contract. It has a history in the independent retail sector and knows what consumers want.”

Another added: “Shebang knows it can’t just rush out for customers and expects to gain a big base. Steady growth will be the key early on. It will need to get a feel for where its place is in the MVNO market in terms of what it can improve on for services that customers are currently receiving.”

Shebang refused to comment on the launch of the MVNO.
