“The word ‘A’I has now replaced the word ‘smart’
Comms analyst Paolo Pescatore said Samsung’s challenge is convincing users to fork out for these new devices.
‘Some of the new AI powered features such as real time voice interpreter and text translation are ground breaking. The voice inferpretor can be used in flight mode using on-device AI. The circle to search with Google will allow brands to be more creative with the way content is searched, accessed on device.
“The word ‘A’I has now replaced the word ‘smart’. We should expect developments to accelerate. What might have been perceived as a gimmick is now real once users start seeing these experiences on a device. We should not underestimate the sheer computing power required. It underlines the significant strides Qualcomm has making with efficiencies of its chipsets.
“The new Ultra raises the benchmark for the next generation of smartphones. Articulating the merits of AI to users will not be easy. Expect Samsung to invest campaigns across all channels to raise awareness. For now Samsung is in pole position and hopes to benefit from early mover advantage. The race is on to sway users that their AI platform will offer a better experience than rivals. Simplicity and security will be paramount in gaining users’ trust”.
