Retailer to spend ‘six figure’ sum on Twitter and Facebook campaign in run up to Christmas

Phones 4U’s first advertisement targeted at Christmas gift buyers broadcasts for the first time tomorrow focusing on the pre-pay market, running alongside a new social media campaign.

Using a similar format to the upgrade-focussed TV advertisements the retailer has been running over the summer, in the new advert various customers are given advice on gifts to buy over the Christmas period.

The social media campaign will include advertising on Facebook and Twitter including a Christmas-themed competition where fans can pull a ‘virtual cracker’ and win prizes including smartphones, accessories, ringtones and festive jokes.

Phones 4U head of brand communications Caspar Nelson said: “The new ads build on our hugely successful ‘upgrades 4u and u and u’ campaign. We’ve seen a 50 per cent increase in the number of people registering online for upgrades since the campaign went live and an increase in the volume of new customers shopping with us in-store, so we’re really excited to be getting into the festive spirit by launching our first Christmas-themed TV adverts based on a similar look and feel.

“The ads are designed to promote our extensive range of mobile phones and gifting propositions as we enter the Christmas period, when we know people are in search of the perfect gifts for their family and friends.”
