Roles deemed unnecessary following a mulit-million pound update of the retailer’s internal IT systems last year
Phones 4u has axed 25 staff from its Staffordshire head office following an internal restructure.
The retailer told Mobile News the cuts were the result of a “multi-million” pound update to its internal IT systems last year which deemed some roles no longer necessary.
It declined to discuss specific roles and personnel affected.
The firm said: “The introduction of a new digital platform and IT systems last year has resulted in greater operational efficiencies. As a result, the decision was made at the end of 2013 to restructure some of our operational departments, which has regrettably led to the loss of 25 jobs.”
Phones 4u has confirmed the appointments of 130 new retail staff in the past month as part of its plans to open around 100 stores this year, taking numbers to around 800 – as reported in Mobile News in September.
Phones 4u employs 5,000 staff.
