The FZ tablet range and Nubo camera were introduced in Europe for the first time
Panasonic used Mobile World Congress (February 23) to unveil what it claims to be two ‘world firsts’ – a 4G mobile camera and the lightest ever rugged handheld tablet.
The company introduced the Toughpad FZ tablet series. Weighing just 280 grams, the range has two devices; the Windows-operated FZ-F1 and Android-powered FZ-N1 (pictured). Panasonic claims the tablets are 50 grams lighter than their closest rivals. Both are 3G/4G enabled and the 4.7-inch HD screen has been designed to be clear, even in bright or rainy conditions.
Hardware includes a Snapdragon Quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. They are also dust and water-resistant and Panasonic says the range can withstand drops from up to 1.8 metres.
The tablets will be available from spring priced at £1,291.
The Japanese manufacturer also showed off the Nubo remote camera (pictured below). It claims this is the industry’s first mobile connected 4G monitoring camera. The device allows users to monitor both indoor and outdoor areas through their smartphone without having to connect to WiFi.
It is both wind and rain-resistant and users can use a connected phone to feed voice communication through the camera’s speaker when an alert is triggered. The camera uses various sensors, which are connected through a provided wireless radio, to sense motion.
The Nubo camera (£259) will be available from spring, with pre-orders now available.
