Concept is similar to one shown by TCL earlier this year
Oppo has unveiled a new rollable phone concept, the Oppo X 2021 at its Oppo Inno Day conference.
The Oppo X 2021 is a concept phone with a 6.7-inch display that can be expanded by extended the screen laterally to make it a 7.4-inch tablet-esque device.
Oppo has used flexible screen display technology to hide a portion of the display inside the phone’s body, which can be revealed by unrolling the device. The manufacturer has designed its own roll motor, power train and laminate.

This concept is similar to a concept that TCL said it was working on earlier in the year. Along with the LG Wing, the rollable concept looks to be the next attempt at an innovative form factor, following on from foldables such as the Samsung Galaxy Fold and the Motorola Razr.
Oppo did not say whether the device would be available, although the 2021 in the name implies that a device with such a form factor may be a tangible reality next year.
AR Glasses
Oppo also announced AR Glass 2021, its latest wearable concept. These glasses feature a design that is 75 per cent lighter than the AR glasses shown at last year’s Inno Day, and have a fisheye camera system to recognise gestures, as well as a regular built-in camera.
