The vendor’s CEO spoke about the importance of 5G for Oppo’s future
Oppo’s CEO Tony Chen has revealed the vendor plans to strengthen its partnership with Qualcomm to help speed up the global adoption of 5G.
Chen made the statement during a Qualcomm keynote for IFA 2020, which he attended virtually.
It comes after Oppo became one of the first vendors to join Qualcomm’s “5G Pioneer Initiative” in 2018.
Since then Oppo has launched a number of 5G handsets, including the Reno 5G in April 2019, with the support of Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset.
Earlier this year Oppo also expanded its partnership with the chipset manufacturer to include CPE products and smart watches.
Speaking at the event, Chen said: “5G is the crucial direction of development on Oppo’s road to innovation.
“As a pioneer and promoter of 5G, OPPO has a great technology base and advantages in the industry due to a forward-looking technical strategy and investment into R&D for 5G communication standards, industry patents, products, and the exploration of new 5G applications.”
