10 per cent of all O2 business contracts now have a digital service according to business director Ben Dowd…

O2 UK is now one of the worlds biggest sellers of Office 365 licences, with more than 100,000 deals since launching the service two years ago.

According to O2’s business director Ben Dowd, the operator is now second only to Australian operator Telstra globally for sales in its field.

Dowd said the achievement is down to O2 selling digital services both internally and through its reseller partners, highlighting the performances of its recently renamed Centre of Excellence partner channel, the Direct Partner Network.

He claims 10 per cent of all SMB’s now pay for a digital service, which also includes TuGo, Box, McAfee, Just Call Me, Link and InTune.

“We’ve had some great uptake of our digital services and our partners have really tuned into our strategy.

“We now have more than 10 per cent of our small and medium base now paying for a digital service. This isn’t free stuff. A big part of that is Office 365. We passed 100,000 licenses back in March, and have been recognised as one of the world leaders for Microsoft 365 license sales.”

The cloud-based product provides document management and collaborative and communication tools, aimed at improving flexible working and efficiencies for small businesses.

Each license extends to up to five PCs and Windows tablets with a subscription. The operator has also set up a Microsoft-accredited support team to assist with implementation and ensure businesses get the most out of the product.

O2 says the product has helped its business customers to work virtually wherever they need to. They can design and build their own website through Office 365 and create business email addresses.
