The service is due to be available commercially later this quarter

Nokia has launched a new iSIM software that will help to enable new 5G mobile and IoT services and generate new revenue streams.

The telco has launched iSIM Secure Connect to support communication service providers (CSPs) and enterprises to deliver 5G mobile and IoT services in an efficient and secure manner.

iSIM Secure Connect will be available commercially this quarter and is vendor-agnostic, remote eSIM and iSIM management software.

According to Nokia, iSIM Secure Connect allows CSPs and enterprises to launch services quicker, increase efficiencies and improve customer satisfaction.

Lucrative

It comes as the eSIM market is anticipated to explode, with Counterpoint Research estimating the market to be worth €6bn by 2025.

This market includes eSIM and iSIM capable devices such as smartphones, smartwatches and cellular IoT devices.

eSIM and iSIM’s allow for users to store and manage multiple subscription profiles remotely.

Nokia head of business applications, cloud and network services Hamdy Farid said: “iSIM unleashes a wide range of growth opportunities for CSPs and enterprises and enables new innovations that build proven value on top of this new technology.

“As part of Nokia’s Cloud and Network Services product portfolio, iSIM Secure Connect will help our customers both streamline the process of managing millions more device subscriptions and deliver more innovative services quickly and securely.”

Analysys Mason principle analyst Michele Mackenzie added: “Service providers are already set to capitalise on eSIM for new revenue streams, and iSIM will accelerate this even further.”
