HMD Global, has brought out a new Nokia rugged smartphone as a successor to the original Nokia 3310 rugged phone.
The new XR21 will come with four years of monthly security updates, three years of OS upgrades, three years of warranty and a one-year screen replacement guarantee
The XR21 is claimed to withstand a soaking from a 100-bar pressure water hose jet with an 80°C water temperature. HMD is offering a one-year screen replacement guarantee should the phone flood.
The Nokia XR21 has a recycled aluminium chassis, impact-proof and Corning Gorilla® Glass Victus display, all designed and certified to withstand impacts. Certification is to MIL-STD-810H making it drop-proof, dust-proof and waterproof. In testing, it survived drops from 1.8m, and being submerged in 1.5m of water for up to an hour, and was hit with the same pressure higher than a fire brigade hose with a water temperature of 80°C heat.
HMD claims two days of battery life between charges and can keep working in temperatures from -20°C to +55°C. The 6.49” screen can be used with wet hands, in the rain, or while wearing gloves.
