iD Mobile has grown to become one of the UK’s biggest MVNOs

iD Mobile has extended its network partnership with Three UK in a new multi-year deal that will bring 5G plans to the MVNO.

The MVNO has been in partnership with the operator since 2015 when the company founded.

As part of the partnership iD Mobile customers will continue to receive Three’s 4G network coverage, and soon have access to 5G.

iD Mobile has grown to become of the UK’s fastest growing MVNOs and passed one million postpaid customers in May 2019.

The MVNO launched initially under the umbrella of Dixons Carphone and set out to address the main frustrations of consumers.

This has seen the company launch propositions such as data rollover, something that has been adopted by other major players. iD Mobile was also the first UK MVNO to launch Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE.

5G push

5G is expected to land on iD Mobile’s network in the first half of this year, with iD Mobile managing director Adam Dunlop confident in Three’s ability to deliver the best 5G service available.

“Three UK has been a fantastic partner in helping us make that a realisation, and our new commercial agreement and contract extension allows us to super-charge that approach. Our ambition is to be the best network for data in terms of value and flexibility and a key part of that will be the roll-out of 5G.

“With Three being at the forefront of the 5G revolution, it makes them the ideal network partner for us and allows us to continue with our ambitious plans for growing iD Mobile even further.”

Three UK chief financial officer Darren Purkis adds that iD Mobile remains an important part of the operator’s wholesale strategy.

“The long-term nature of the partnership is testament to our approach in working with partners and we look forward to working with iD Mobile over the coming years and all that we can achieve together.”
