The devices and subscription service are part of Nokia’s plan for sustainability

HMD Global has launched four new Nokia devices alongside Circular, a new subscription service available in the UK and Germany.

The Nokia X30 5G is the brand’s most eco-friendly device yet, made with a 100 per cent recycled aluminium frame and a 65 per cent recycled plastic back.

It features a 50MP camera with AI and optical image stabilisation (OIS) for ultra-wide angle and detailed nighttime imagery.

The Nokia G60 5G aims to be a phone that users can keep for longer as it promises three years of Android upgrades, three years of monthly security updates and an extended three-year warranty.

The Nokia C31 is equipped with a three-day battery life, AI-powered battery saving features and triple rear and selfie cameras powered by Google.

The company has also introduced its newest tablet, the Nokia T21 and a subscription service with sustainability at its core.

Circular provides a range of eco-friendly rewards for customers to keep their phones for longer and to give them a second life.

Within the subscription model, Nokia devices go through recycling, refurbishing and re-subscribing or to a charity that needs it most.

HMD Global CEO Florian Seiche said: “ We have introduced Circular, a truly circular subscription model that rewards people who extend the lifecycle of their phones.

“We build our devices with more recycled materials and continue to boost our longevity heritage with software and security updates.

“We are working hard to live this approach as a company, with our business-wide sustainability pledges that shows our commitment to continue to work harder to protect tomorrow.”

CCS Insight chief analyst Ben Wood added: “CCS Insight’s research shows that roughly half of consumers in key European markets believe that creating products that last longer is helpful and positive for the environment.

“HMD continues to encourage consumers to keep their device for longer and with Circular, it also means devices stay out of landfill.

“Electronic waste is an issue the whole industry must address and services like Circular are a positive step towards creating change.”

Circular is available from September 1 for selected Nokia devices.
