Nokia’s Ovi Mail email service has added over one million accounts globally since launch in February.
Nokia launched Ovi Mail for customers wanting an email account, but who have no access to a computer.
The countries with the highest number of subscribers include India, Indonesia, Mexico, Russia and South Africa.
The service is now available in 180 countries and is
supported in 20 languages.
Ovi Mail is free to set up and comes with free spam filters to block unwanted mail.
It is accessible through any Nokia Series 40 or 60 device.
Nokia head of consumer messaging Tom Furlong said: “This proves tthere is a real appetite in the developing world for these types of tailored services.
“Ovi Mail provides a digital identity and we are thrilled by its rising adoption rate.”
