Despite rise in mobile working just 42 per cent of enterprises are using a mobile device management tool

Nine out of ten companies companies have seen a rise in productivity through their staff using mobiles while out of the office.

This is according to a new report by cloud and managed services provider, Azzurri Communications, which polled 188 ‘IT leaders’ earlier this year.

However, the results also revealed that 71 per cent of firms believed there were still further gains to be realised. Almost half of the respondents (47 per cent) rate the gains made by staff using mobile phones as either significant or substantial.

62 per cent of employees use their device for consuming content, as well as creating and editing documents.

Despite the rise in mobile working, just 42 per cent of organisations use a mobile device management tool, while a further 17 per cent say are planning to.

Looking ahead, respondents said their big focus for next year would be on unified communications and collaborations tools. Video calling is expected to rise from the ninth most important tool to the second, in the next twelve months.

“2015 will be the year when IT leaders want to make more from the unified communications and collaboration tools available for mobile devices – particularly as they seek to integrate mobile and remote workers in their business workflows,” said Azzurri Communications chief technology officer Rufus Grig.

“Presence, instant messaging, web and video conferencing are all available on mobile devices and given the right connectivity, security and environment, they all have a very valuable role to play. As connectivity continues to improve, with better 4G and Wi-Fi coverage, we expect to see take-up of these services continue apace.”
