Mike Koenigsheim has nearly 20 years of experience at Brightstar and Tech Data
Phoenix Cellular has announced the appointment of former Brightstar and Tech Data man Mike Koenigsheim in a business development role.
Koenigsheim joins after nearly 20 years working at Brightstar and Tech Data. He held a variety of roles at the latter before moving to Brightstar, where he rose up to become vice president of services for EMEA, based in Munich, maintaining the position from 2012 until September this year.
It was while working at Brightstar that he worked alongside Phoenix Cellular’s co-founders, after Brightstar purchased their previous business Mobile Phone Exchange in 2012.
This year he also founded management consultancy firm Ginger Ninja Consulting.
His role at Phoenix is a new one, and will be to develop new relationships with European networks, retailers and distributors. He will be based in Munich to aid in his purpose.
Phoenix Cellular director Paul Walters said: “After another successful year of growth where we’ve seen turnover almost double, this is the perfect time for Phoenix to bring a leading industry figure like Mike on board. We believe passionately in the value and positioning of pre-owned devices and Mike has the contacts, experience and reputation to extend these conversations to some of the most important companies in Europe.
“Mike will join the team on our exhibition stand at next years’ Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. This will be our first time at this show and we’re plannng a big presence from the Phoenix team.”
