The figures exceeded the disti’s expectations, amid a challenging Covid-hit backdrop

Exertis has grown its year-on-year revenue by 14.6 per cent for the 2020/2021 financial year.

The distributor posted revenue of £4.48bn for the financial year up to March 31 2021, up from £3.91bn last year.

Despite the global pandemic, Exertis also grew its operating profit by 11 per cent to £72.4m, up from £65.3m.

According to DCC Technology managing director Tim Griffin the results were “better than expected” amid a challenging year where the pandemic has impacted all industries.

Remote working

Consumer electronics and technologies that enable remote working were in high demand, while its refurbished handsets offering Aznu also performed strongly.

However growth was offset by the challenged enterprise and B2B sectors plus the Pro AV product category.

Speaking to Mobile News, Griffin called the financial performance “very pleasing”.

“In terms of Covid, it had a material on our business in a variety of different ways, some positive and some less so.

“The B2B, enterprise and Pro AV businesses were challenged, but our businesses that were predicated around working from home and consumer really blossomed as people were stuck in their home environments. We did very well in these spaces, which are traditionally lower margin.”
