Dixons Carphone to offer more jobs to Phones 4u staff

Retailer’s executive team hosting a recruitment day in Stoke-on-Trent for employees of fallen rival

Executives from Dixons Carphone visited Stoke-on-Trent today as part of a recruitment day offering job opportunities to employees of Phones 4u.

The event is being held in Stoke City’s Britannia Stadium, which is located near to the fallen retailers headquarters in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Dixons Carphone bosses will offer employees of its former rival the chance to apply for jobs in its head office, which has yet to be announced, or other headquarter roles.

The newly merged retailer has already received over 2,000 applications from Phones 4u employees for 1,500 vacancies.  Dixons Carphone announced last week that it had saved 800 jobs by assuming control 160 Phones 4u concession stores in Currys/ PC World outlets.

Vodafone had previously announced that it would purchase 140 of the stricken retailer’s stores saving 900 jobs, while EE announced yesterday (September 22) it was buying 140 stores retaining 359 members of staff.
