The company is to also launch its proposition in Ireland and Germany
eSIM enabler CTech Group has rebranded its company as Weave.tech, as it looks to expand its business beyond just mobile.
As part of the rebrand, the business – founded in 2016 by Ashley Bailey – has started extending its offering to broadband, TV and IoT.
The company, which specialises in enabling retailers to sell software along with hardware through SIM-only products, is planning to expand beyond the UK, with launches in Ireland and Germany slated in the near future.
This follows on from the company appointing former Carphone Warehouse Ireland CEO Peter Scott as its new CEO.
The rebrand, which went live on April 26, will help the company to distinguish itself as more than just a SIM-only firm, says Bailey.
“We’ve changed the name as we’re expanding into Ireland and Germany, and the old name was a bit confusing and didn’t explain that we’re a technology business and more than just a SIM-only business.
“SIM-only is one of our subscriptions, and we’re now bringing on broadband, TV and other home products.”
Across the sea
New CEO Scott is, meanwhile, aiming to make the most of his time in Ireland as Weave.tech launches there.
“Ireland presents an opportunity for us as well,” he said. “I was based there for nine years and can revisit a network of contacts that I’ve made in order to establish some partnerships.”
“Particularly in Ireland, the telco market has changed a lot in recent times through consolidation.
“There’s also been a big shift to online over there – which we’ve been able to take advantage of – compared to the UK, which has seen a more gradual shift.”
