Telecoms provider will provide wholesale mobile services to quad-play company until 2021
Virgin Media has signed a new five year agreement with BT that sees the telecoms provider continue as its MVNO partner.
Under the new agreement, both BT and EE will provide wholesale mobile services to Virgin, which has just over three million mobile customers in the UK.
The MVNO agreement, which covers voice and data services, replaces an existing wholesale agreement between the two companies and extends its exclusivity to 2021. The previous deal was to run until next year.
Virgin launched its delayed 4G services in the UK last November, combining it with new services that give customers free messaging on WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger and the ability to rollover unused data.

Virgin Mobile CEO Peter Kelly said: “This winning combination with EE will give Virgin Mobile even more control and firepower to deliver innovative services to the UK mobile market. Virgin Mobile customers want fast speeds, flexibility and plans packed full of data – we’re going to continue to deliver.”
BT Wholesale and Ventures CEO Gerry McQuade added: “This has proven a successful relationship for both parties for many years. As the largest wholesale provider of telecommunications services in Europe, BT values the economy of scale that Virgin Media brings to our network.”
