EE CEO will step down from his role at operator once BT’s £13.5 billion buyout is complete, with Marc Allera set to takeover

BT boss Gavin Patterson has hailed Olaf Swantee’s “world class” achievements after the EE CEO announced he would step down from his role once BT has completed its £13.5 billion takeover of the operator.

Olaf-Swantee-3_hi-rez-webSwantee has said he will leave the operator once it becomes part of BT, after almost five years at EE. He will be replaced by EE chief commercial office Marc Allera.

BT’s takeover of EE will see it become both the UK’s largest broadband and fixed line provider, and also the biggest mobile provider with 26 million mobile customers.

In a statement, Patterson said: “Olaf’s achievements during his tenure at EE have been world class. His commitment to integration planning will support the successful future of EE inside BT.

“I wish him all the very best for the future. At the same time, I will be very pleased to welcome Marc Allera to the BT leadership team, upon successful completion of the deal.”
