TalkTalk, Sky, Vodafone and FCS encourage UK businesses to give their views on Openreach during 10-week consultation

A number of the UK’s biggest broadband providers have launched a campaign to get businesses give their views on the future of BT Openreach.

TalkTalk, Sky, Vodafone and the Federation of Communication Services (FCS) have launched “Fix Britain’s Internet”, aimed at giving UK businesses a voice about Ofcom’s ongoing reforms to Openreach.

Yesterday, Ofcom proposed a number of changes to BT’s infrastructure arm, including creating an independent board of directors, and giving Openreach more say over investment.

The proposals now enter a 10-week consultation period, with the coalition of BT’s rivals encouraging UK businesses to get involved in the process.

TalkTalk CEO Dido Harding said” “For too long, UK businesses have been let down by the nation’s broadband infrastructure, receiving poor speeds and even poorer service. How is the UK economy supposed to grow and compete with the rest of the world with one hand tied behind its back by failing broadband?

“Ofcom’s proposals simply don’t go far enough, and we know many people up and down the country feel the same way. This is a once-in-a-decade opportunity for them to tell the regulator directly they don’t want a halfway house for another decade, they want truly radical change now.”
