Azzurri Communications CEO Vim Vithaldas has decided to leave the company at the end of its current financial year (July) for “family reasons”.
Vithaldas joined the O2 centre of excellence company in December 2011 in the middle of a financial decline which saw pre-tax profits fall from £11.5 million in June 2010 to £5.8 million in June 2012.
He has led the mobile and unified communications reseller through a refinancing process which saw reduce its interest-bearing debt by more than 75 per cent, from £103 million to £25 million.
In October Azzurri announced £3 million of investment into new cloud-based telecoms services. Earlier this month it established a new division to focus on the development and sale of mobile applications.
Vithaldas also oversaw a number of senior departures, including those of head of new business Jason Elliott, head of marketing and PR Dan Roche and human resources director Noel McGonigle (see here).
His replacement will be announced in the coming months, Azzurri said, and it is not known whether he will remain in the industry.
Chairman Steve Andrews said: “We are now well set to accelerate further Azzurri’s position in the market.
“Vim has the Board’s full confidence to continue to drive the business forward with my support and achieve a successful transition to the new CEO.”
