Apple thins out its new iPad Pro offering but thickens the price

Apple has revamped and strengthened its iPad lineup with a new range of devices. The range includes the new M2 iPad Air and M4 iPad Pro.

The M4 chip has appeared just six months after the launch of the M3 last November and consists of 28 billion transistors built using second-generation 3-nanometer technology.

At just 5.3mm thick, the new iPad Pros are the thinnest Apple products ever released. The 11-inch model costs from £999 depending on storage, and the 13-inch model starts at £1,299. The iPad Air starts at £599 for the 12-inch version rising to £799 for the 13-inch editions.

 But the value proposition was ctiticised by top Apple You Tuber Luke Miani  who said “this is an outrageously-priced machine that is only going to appeal to the most die-hard of iPad Pro fans” said

Importantly, this comes at a time when current iPad owners will be looking for an upgrade. Whether that be an all-in-one Mac or a more portable touchscreen, there’s now a clearer distinction at the high end, presenting choices for those that want a bigger screen and more or less processing power.

This is a pivotal moment as Apple seeks to give this segment a major boost amidst declining quarterly sales YoY. It also represents a final step closer to ditching the laptop altogether given the slew of new features and multitasking capabilities. The new premium chips will be a big draw among users and developers, which will allow the porting of the same services across devices.”
