Former Brightstar 20:20 and Dixons man set to be named new category manager ahead of £3.8 billion merger deal

Andrew Peat is set for a swift return to the mobile industry after accepting the newly created role of ‘category director’ at Carphone Warehouse.

Peat, who was unavailable for comment, will be responsible for accessories, handsets and other connected devices sold across its consumer channels. His role will begin officially in June, Mobile News understands.

Peat left his position as 20:20 Mobile marketing and purchasing director in January after almost nine years – following completion of Brightstar’s takeover.

The move will also so him reunite with ex employers Dixons who are currently in the final stages of a £3.8 billion joint venture agreement to merge with Carphone Warehouse – ‘Dixons Carphone.’

Peat spent six years (1995-2001) as Dixons marketing director before leaving to join T-Mobile as VP of international terminal management.

Mobile News is currently awaiting confirmation of Peat’s appointment from Carphone.
