Deal is eighth purchase by Timico since company was founded in 2004

Communications service provider Timico has acquired IT and managed services provider Wirebird for an undisclosed sum.

The deal to purchase the 17-year old company marks the eighth acquisition in Timico’s eleven-year history.

Wirebird employs 50 people across three sites in London, Reading and Auckland in New Zealand and will continue to operate as an independent subsidiary of Timico under its current management team.

Its expertise lies in both on-site IT installations and hosted cloud services with customers including charity The British Lung Foundation, green energy company, John Laing and fashion outlet, Hobbs.

The companies have previous history of working together on a number of deals.

“Their expertise in fully-managed and outsourced IT solutions in particular, perfectly complements the internet, hosting and communication services we supply to a very similar profile of business customer,” says Timico chief executive Tim Radford.

“As well as having all the right technical credentials, they are a great team of people to do business with.”

Wirebird chief executive officer Malcolm Gardiner added: “This as a very positive step in the growth and development of Wirebird and we are also excited about giving our clients access to a wider range of services in the future.”
