New firm Accessory Lab targeting UK retail and B2B supply

Online retailer Mobile Fun is seeking accessory supply deals with UK retailers and dealers after launching its first distribution business, Accessory Lab.

The Birmingham-based firm, which offers more than 8,000 accessories via its consumer website and has a turnover of more than £11.5 million, spoke to Mobile News of its intentions to enter the distribution space back in October last year.

Managing director Mohammed Hussain said last week the opportunities for the business are “limitless” and has set a “very conservative” figure of achieving £1 million sales before the end of the year.

“We have put in place the infrastructure and resources to capitalise on existing demand. Our clients will have access to supplier relationships built up over 14 years in the mobile sector.”

The new operation, which has received a six-figure investment from Mobile Fun, will be based at its 10,000 sq ft warehouse in Birmingham, and will be headed by former B2B dealer Phonebox Communications commercial director Jason Fernyhough.

Other staff include product marketing manager Kimberley Morrell and sales manager Martin McNulty. There are 16 staff currently in the team.

Mobile Fun said the firm will look to establish a foothold in the UK market before rolling its distribution model into other international markets it operates in, which include China, France, Germany, Australia and the US.
