Juice claims industry-first ditching of single-use plastics in packaging

Move follows launch of fully compostable phone cases

Accessories manufacturer Juice has removed single-use plastic packaging from all its products, in a move it claims is an industry first.

Instead, Juice’s packaging will be made entirely from recycled plastic, which can itself be recycled, contributing to a circular economy.

“Consumers are opting more and more to shop from greener businesses,” said Juice CEO Jolyon Bennett. “Because of this, it is essential that businesses are able to adapt their product offerings and price points to ensure they are minimising any negative impact on the planet, whilst keeping prices realistic and affordable.”

Juice will not increase prices in line with the environmental changes made to its packaging, in the hope that consumers will gravitate to a more environmentally-conscious product range.

Earlier this year, Juice, which took home Best Accessories Manufacturer at the Mobile News Awards, also released a range of fully compostable phone cases made from wheat, corn and starch.

It also sold more Apple lightning cables in the first month of 2020 than Apple did, according to GfK data.

It is not the only accessories firm to commit to green initiatives; last year, Kondor and O2 pledged to remove all single-use plastics from their branded products by 2020.
