Acer has unveiled its new Iconia One 7 tablet (pictured) designed for both first-time users and children.

The device weighs 270 grams and a seven-inch HD display. It also includes an anti-slip finish aimed at reducing kids the likelihood of it falling out of a user’s hands.

An 8GB and 16GB model is available, with memory being expandable to 128GB using a microSD card. The tablet runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow – Google’s latest operating system, has a 1.3GHz MediaTeck quad-core processor and Acer claims it has a six hour battery life. At the rear is a 2MP camera, whilst the front has a 0.3MP snapper.

It comes preloaded with the Kids Centre app. When activated, it makes sure any content unsuitable for children cannot be viewed. There are also parental controls which allow adults to manage daily usage limits, add passwords and control the apps children can access.

The device will be available in the UK from June priced at £79.99.
