Operator will announce how it plans to use funds in its forthcoming annual financial statement
Vodafone has received a dividend of £2.1bn from its 45 per cent share in US operator Verizon Wireless.
The board of Verizon Wireless approved a total dividend of £4.6bn with the rest going to majority shareholder Verizon Communications.
Vodafone will announce how it plans to use the dividend during its preliminary financial results statement on May 21.
Earlier this year press speculation suggested Vodafone was looking to sell its stake in the US operator for around £65bn, with other reports suggesting rival US operator AT&T was looking to partner with Verizon Communications to make a bid to buy the whole of Vodafone Group.
Reports were denied by all parties, however a spokesperson for Verizon Communications confirmed it was willing to buy Vodafone’s 45 per cent stake in the operator if it was for sale.
