Proposed action that would have affected attendees at Mobile World Congress 2012 has been cancelled
A planned strike by transport workers in Barcelona during Mobile World Congress next week has been called off.
Workers from TMB, the main public operator for the metro and municipal buses in the metropolitan area of the Spanish city, had announced plans to strike during the annual trade show, which takes place from February 27 until March 1.
Negotiations had been ongoing between the government and the unions in an effort to find a solution to the problem.
Last week the GSMA said it had “comprehensive contingency” plans in place to deal with a planned strike by transport workers that would have left all delegates with “unfettered access” to the event.
Over 60,000 people are expected to attend MWC this year – a record number for the annual mobile trade show.
