Dixons Carphone has announced it will close its 35 airport stores.
The mobile retailer has said that the 400 employees working at the stores will be offered roles within other parts of the business.
The company also announced that it would be paying £73m in furlough support back to the government after strong recent sales.
Dixons Carphone said: “We do not expect passenger numbers to recover sufficiently to compensate for the removal of airside tax-free shopping by the UK government from 1 January.
“This has led to the difficult decision to close this business.”
According to a report from the Telegraph, WHSmith is reportedly interested in taking over Dixon’s Travel stores.
