Samsung to appeal against Galaxy Tab 10.1 sales ban on August 25

Manufacturer given court date in Düsseldorf, Germany as it looks to challenge the European sales ban on its tablet device

Samsung will attempt to overturn a ruling banning it from selling its Galaxy Tab 10.1 device in the EU (except the Netherlands) in a court in Düsseldorf, Germany on August 25.

On August 10 Apple won a preliminary injunction against Samsung, accusing the Korean manufacturer’s Galaxy range of smartphone and tablets of copying the design and functionality of its iPhone and iPad products.

Apple alleged that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 infringed 10 different patent areas such as data transmission and wireless technology.

Samsung is currently banned from importing, promoting or selling its flagship tablet device across all of the EU except for the Netherlands. A decision on the ban is expected towards the start of next month.
