Birmingham and Manchester came second and third respectively in study examining customer experience across the four major UK networks.
The latest RootMetrics study into overall mobile performance across the four major UK networks has crowned Liverpool the best city in the UK for reliability, internet and speed.
The firm took ‘RootScores’ from the first half of this year through indoor and outdoor environments, and ranked the 16 biggest UK cities from best to worst for overall performance, as well as examining a network’s reliability, speed, mobile internet, call and text performance. Rankings were based on the average of all network scores in a given city.
Liverpool came on top for overall mobile performance with an average of 94.6 out of 100, with Birmingham (94.1) and Manchester (93.5) ranking second and third respectively. Liverpool ranked first specifically for reliability, speed and mobile internet.
Belfast (93.3) ranked fourth overall whilst Edinburgh (92.2) came fifth. The latter performed particularly poorly for mobile internet and texts, ranking eight and tenth respectively.
Hull sits at the bottom overall with an average of 76.2, whilst also ranking 16th place for reliability, speed, mobile internet, calls and texts.
RootMetrics general manager of Europe Chris Smith said: “Good mobile service is a crucial part of a city’s basic infrastructure. These rankings give a scientific indication of where in the country you are more likely to enjoy reliable mobile performance.”
