Carphone gets dibs on HTC variant

Carphone Warehouse is to stock the new HTC Hero handset in two exclusive colours.

From August the new Android touch screen HTC Hero handset will be available in both mocha (pictured) and pink, and will be the first HTC handset to be sold through Carphone since it signed a direct distribution agreement with the manufacturer.

Users will have the ability to choose up to six widgets on the main screen to personalise the device to access sites and information they use most often, such as Twitter, email, weather, news and Facebook.

Additional applications can also be downloaded from the dedicated Android Market.

The handset will be available through Carphone Warehouse retail and online stores, and will be free on all fixed term contracts.
