Ingram Micro acquires server support provider Comms-Care

Comms-Care offers support services to more than 850 IT resellers and becomes the latest in a long line of acquisitions for the distribution giant

Ingram Micro has snapped up UK-based IT support services provider Comms-Care for an undisclosed fee.

Northwich-based Comms-Care provides technical services to the IT channel, including pre-sales support, configuration, professional services, maintenance and managed services. It boasts of 850 IT reseller partners across the UK.

It has 225 members of staff and holds accreditations with Cisco, Citrix, Microsoft, and VMWARE along with technical capability in Dell, HP, IBM, Juniper, NetApp and Lenovo.

For the full year ended 2015, Comms-care posted a revenue increase of 33 per cent to £26.1 million. Profit before tax increased from £3 million to £3.4 million, according to its filing to Companies House filing.

It is the latest in a long line of acquisitions for Ingram, itself subject to a takeover bid from Chinese giant the HNA Group.

The distributor has bought more than 30 companies within the last decade, including the Odin Service Platform from Parallels in December. This was its fifth purchase of 2015, following deals for Docdata, Canai Group, Clarity Technologies and ANOVO.
