O2 signs deal with Yahoo!

The deal is part of a group-wide package between Yahoo! and O2’s parent company Telefonica. The service has been redesigned so that users are sent directly to the first web page displayed on the search list, which will prevent the need to scroll through numerous other links.

O2 has also revealed that the service will feature sponsored links in order to draw additional advertising revenue.

O2 UK chief executive Matthew Key said: “Working with the best partners in the marketplace is a crucial element of our strategy. Yahoo! is a fantastic brand and our relationship will allow us to provide an enhanced customer experience for our customers.”

O2 currently has more than 15.8 million customers using its Active service across over 240 different handsets
