Court grants T-Mobile exclusive German iPhone rights

A German court has overturned a temporary injunction that forced T-Mobile to sell unlocked iPhones. Vodafone argued that T-Mobile’s exclusive contract with Apple unfairly restricted consumer choice of operators.

During the temporary injunction T-Mobile has been selling unlocked iPhones in Germany for 999 euros (£721).

Apple has existing exclusivity deals in place with O₂ in the UK and AT&T in the US.

Vodafone Germany is now considering appealing against the decision. Vodafone said: "Vodafone Germany has not received the written ruling but we will be examining it closely to decide on any future actions.”
