Get Connected still on target

Get Connected has reiterated its desire to have 100 stores open by the end of 2010 despite narrowly missing out on its target for last year.

The Welsh-based retailer had set a target of 70 stores for the end of 2009 but fell just short of that with 66. It has recently opened a store in Whitchurch, Cardiff, which becomes its third shop in the Welsh capital.

A shop fit is currently taking place in a store in Oswestry, Shropshire and is scheduled to open at the start of next week. A store in Newport is also due to open in the next couple of weeks, taking its shop count to 68.

Get Connected managing director Damian Cole said: “Despite us just missing out on our target last year, I was happy with the way we progressed. If we continue to employ the same strategy as last year – opening a store every two weeks or so – I’m confident we’ll achieve our target of 100 or get extremely close to it by the end of this year.”
