Sony Ericsson unveils Arc S at IFA 2011

Latest Arc handset from manufacturer is 25 per cent faster than the original, and will go on sale in Q4

Sony Ericsson has announced details of its new Arc S handset at its press conference in conjunction with IFA in Berlin. It will go on sale in selected markets in Q4.

The Arc S, which comes with a 4.2-inch touchscreen with Mobile BRAVIA Engine, runs off the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) platform and is powered by a 1.4 GHz processor – 25 per cent faster compared to the original Arc.

Sony’s 3D sweep panorama technology is featured. 3D sweep panorama images can be captured and then viewed by connecting the phone to a 3D TV using the HDMI output. Other features include an 8.1-megapixel camera with HD video capability and Sony’s Exmor R for mobile image sensor that the company said enhances still images and videos in low light conditions.

Users will also have access to the Sony ‘Music Unlimited’ service, which offers a catalogue of over 10 million songs with access to their personal music library and ad free radio channels across multiple devices, as well as ‘Video Unlimited’, which offers a range of films and TV shows.
